Awareness Campaign for Enhancing Mental Health and Wellness for Indigenous Learners
Client: Aboriginal Resource Centre at the University of Guelph, Six Nations Polytechnic and Mohawk College.
This project, a collaboration between the University of Guelph, Six Nations Polytechnic and Mohawk College was guided by First Nations, Métis and Inuit Knowledge Carriers through the Knowledge Carrier Advisory Circle and students through the Student Advisory Circle.
EarthLore was engaged to develop a unique, vibrant and culturally responsive branding campaign for the initiative and to raise awareness of regionally focused and culturally responsive, holistic wellness and mental health support tools through production of a series of help videos.
The videos, supported by original illustrated branding and a 20-page student handbook, feature students with lived experiences, Elders offering teachings, and guidance from councillors and community helpers. The campaign’s objectives were to destigmatize mental health challenges experienced by Indigenous students on campus and to promote a holistic approach to wellness that is central to Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
